Sara Baras is a dancer and coreographer that has achieved the highest recognition as an artist. Her performances has been seen all around the world.
Here you see her version of the immortal play Carmen, based on the novel of Prosper Mérimée of the same name, that has inspired so many movies, plays and musicals along more than 100 years.
As so many times, this kind of minimalist stage design helps to focus attention on the actors, dancers and singers, but puts photographers and videographers in a brisk. The extreme contrast of lights and shadows makes it hard to track focus on the subjects. However, I find the black and red choice of colors pretty intense an appropiate. Carmen is, all in all, the story of a love crime.
